Community

Jubail has developed due to the oil and gas present in the Gulf. Set on the coast 100 Kms north of Al Khobar and Dhahran, Jubail boasts an attractive, recently built coastline with many play areas for younger children, pathways for walking and barbeque or picnic areas.

Within the school wide community a range of activities are offered. Community activities are often registered and advertised within the school newsletter. These include:

Horse riding

Karate

Golf

Snorkelling

The Intercontinental Hotel cater for families with tennis, swimming, a beach with volleyball, squash court and a fully equipped gymnasium. Huwaylat Recreational Centre boasts an olympic sized swimming pool plus tennis courts and racquetball, squash and badminton facilities inside. Numerous other facilities are available within compounds.

Whispering Sands Golf Club, only 10 minutes drive from school, is a challenging 18 hole par 72 sand golf course considered the finest in the Eastern Province. It also offers a fully equipped driving range. Fees are very reasonable, lessons are available and there are competitions most Fridays throughout the season. Fore! There are two main shopping areas in Jubail close to the main housing areas. Most compounds are found near the old town, where there are a large number of shops. Private housing in the Royal Commission area benefits from the Fanateer shopping mall, and many supermarkets. Western, Middle Eastern as well as Indian, Chinese and Filipino cuisine may be enjoyed in a wide variety of eateries in the RC and Downtown areas.

Families find many other outdoor activities such as desert camping, snorkelling and diving, sailing and water-skiing, windsurfing, riding, soccer, rugby and hashing.
